Zendure’s SuperMini 3 Is A Brilliant Compact Power Bank With 45W Output

Battery technology has improved considerably in recent years, but it still isn’t as good as we need it to be. Take smartphones for example. I use an iPhone SE 2020 and it can chew through a charge in half a day. For this reason, if I’m leaving home, I need to take a power bank with me.

I’ve tried several power banks, but they all seem to have their flaws. The ones with a usable amount of power can often be heavy and large; you never really know exactly how much charge they have onboard. A strip of four LEDs doesn’t tell me with sufficient accuracy how much juice I have left.

Recently, a power bank turned up on my desk that addresses this problem. The Zendure SuperMini 3 is housed in an attractive ribbed case made from high-impact plastic and available in four colorways: black, silver, blue and pink. The capacity of this pocket-sized wonder is 10,000mAh and yet it’s about 75% the size of most similarly rated power banks on the market.

Measuring just 111 x 63.5 x 22.5mm and weighing only 200g, the Zendure SuperMini 3 is smaller than my iPhone SE and about the same thickness as a slim paperback. It can easily slip into a pocket and is small enough to sit comfortably in the average person’s hand.

The Zendure SuperMini 3 can output up to 45W of power and can be fully charged in as little as one hour using a 45W charger. There are three ports: two USB-A outputs rated at 18W and 15W, plus a USB-C port that can output the full 45W rating. That’s enough to power a MacBook Air.

The USB-C port also doubles as an input for recharging the Zendure SuperMini 3. Zendure says that the heat levels when fast charging are reduced, increasing the safety of the device and the longevity of the batteries. There’s also support for a variety of fast charging protocols, and the SuperMini 3 is compatible with the fast charging of devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 20+/S21+, MacBook Air, iPad Pro, Surface and Nintendo Switch.

A brilliant feature of this device is the embedded LED display which is behind the plastic case and only shows up when you press the sole button on the side of the SuperMini 3’s case. The LED displays the precise percentage of charge onboard and shows the progress when the Zendure SuperMini 3 is being charged. I love it. Finally, here’s a power bank that shows me exactly how much power is left on board.

Verdict: The Zendure SuperMini 3 is a brilliant little charger that can provide a lifeline for a small laptop, phone or tablet. There’s a maximum of 45W of power and the LED display showing the percentage charge left is so useful. If you despair of carrying around a heavy power bank that doesn’t have the muscle to power most of your devices, this little gizmo is a great choice. Recommended.

Pricing & Availability: The Zendure SuperMini 3 is available now and costs $69.99, although Zendure offers some discounts from time to time so check on the company’s website.
