DxO Unveils Latest Nik Collection 5 Plug-Ins With New Color Efex Pro

It’s been 25 years since the first collection of Nik Photoshop plug-ins was launched and, since then, the software was bought by Google before being sold to French software developer DxO. Now Nik Collection 5 has been launched with some major upgrades to Colour Efex and Analog Efex plug-ins, with improved local adjustment technology and a smoother user experience.

The eight Nik Collection 5 plug-ins can work as standalone apps and bags of creative potential for photographers and image creators. There are more than 300 pre-sets to give instant results, while intuitive sliders and DxO’s U-Point technology make it easy to apply local adjustments and refine every detail of a photo.

The user interfaces of Nik Color Efex and Nik Analog Efex have been rebuilt from the ground up, bringing them into line with the recently updated Nik Silver Efex and Nik Viveza plug-ins. Nik Color Efex is a powerful way to enhance and manipulate color and continues to be the collection’s most popular plug-in. The addition of two-Colour Selectivity sliders — Luminance and Chrominance — offers greater control over the impact of local adjustments. The interface has been updated so that creating and editing a Control Point is clean and distraction-free.

Haze in photographs is now easy to remove with Nik Color Efex thanks to ClearView, a technology borrowed from DxO PhotoLab 5. Fog, mist, smoke and pollution are intelligently reduced using a simple slider, returning contrast and color to photographs. Color Efex also benefits has 29 authentic color film grain effects that were created in DxO’s laboratories, giving analog enthusiasts a range of new creative options.

Nik Perspective Efex is also part of the collection and it benefits from the ongoing research conducted in DxO’s labs. Some 20 new cameras and 60 lenses have been added to DxO’s database of supported equipment.
