Bluesound Reveals Brand New Compact Music System

Bluesound makes a great range of music streaming devices and has one of the most user-friendly interfaces for playing music all around the home. Now award-winning makes of hi-res, wireless, multi-room audio players has announced the Bluesound Powernode Edge.

This single-zone, wireless music streaming amplifier is the perfect entry point for anyone looking for a music system that just needs speakers. The Bluesound Powernode Edge combines music streaming sources, control and amplification all in one compact and affordable device. All you must do is choose a pair of speakers to go with it.

Inside the Powernode Edge is an audiophile-grade amplifier that connects to a pair of passive loudspeakers to create or extend a HiFi system. Other options include adding the Pules Sub+ wireless subwoofer for extra oomph in the bass department. Alternatively, the Powernode Edge can be used to power the rear channels of a Bluesound wireless surround sound setup to create the ultimate home theater experience.

The amplifier driving the Powernode Edge is a conservatively rated 2 x 40W DirectDigital amplifier and can handle hi-res audio tracks up to 24-bit/192kHz. The system also supports MQA playback, which enables music lovers to listen to the original studio masters of their favorite albums as they were meant to be heard.

The Powernode Edge is compact and designed to suit any style of décor. The deal includes a wall bracket that enables the unit to be hidden in a cupboard or behind a sofa. The Powernode Edge is easy to spec and stack. Smart home installers will love the unit’s 1U rack height and half-rack width, along with the touch control panel.

With the capability to handle more than 20 integrated music services and thousands of internet radio stations natively, the sources can be accessed directly on the Powernode Edge and via the BluOS Controller smartphone app. In addition, music libraries stored on the local network can also be played using Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, or plugging a drive into the unit’s USB port.

The Powernode Edge supports Apple’s AirPlay 2 protocol, so the Powernode Edge can be easily integrated into an Apple ecosystem. Alongside AirPlay, there’s support for Bluetooth streaming using Qualcomm’s high-quality aptX HD codec. In addition, traditional wired sources, such as a TV or turntable, can be connected using the HDMI eARC input or the combo analog/digital input.

Multiple Bluesound players around the home can be added to create a multi-room audio system using BluOS. It’s possible to send music from player to player or sync up multiple players to stream the same music for parties and gatherings. Easy control is available via the BluOS Controller app for iOS, Android, Mac or PC, or by using the glass touch panel on the unit for quick-access controls like Play, Pause, and Volume Up/Down.

The Powernode Edge can be integrated with the most popular smart home controllers like Crestron, Control4, URC, RTI, ELAN and others. At the same time, hands-free control is possible using voice assistants like Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The Powernode Edge sounds like a great product and will make the Bluesound system more affordable and all you need to do is add a pair of speakers to create a very competent sound system.
